Removing play from the EF mount BMPCC 6K Pro

PostMon May 17, 2021 2:47 am

Play in the EF mount is an unfortunate fact of life when changing directions on a follow focus. I don’t see a locking EF Mount coming for the 6k Pro. Problem solved most of the time by a lens support +rails and attaching to lens foot.

However, if using a stills lens such as the Canon 24-70 ii/iii - it won’t have a collar or foot. Also, being rather lightweight, the lens can get pushed around somewhat easily by the torque of the FF motor.

Possible solutions I see are
- lens support
- universal collar with foot to put on the lens (does this exist?)
- lens support + zip tie or other strap (manfrotto makes something like this) around rods
- use a different lens

Also - what’s the deal with the battery grip? It only has a single attachment point and foam, it has an unacceptable amount of play in the same FF situation.
