BMPCC a lenst test, Stabilization on/off

PostTue Oct 22, 2013 3:14 pm

So I have noticed that hand held is very shaky with the BMPCC.
I have used my Lumix 14mm 2,5 and it is difficult.

Today I bought two used lenses that are almost the same,
14-42mm and
14-45mm and perhaps tomorrow I will buy another used 12-50mm.

My though is to compare them and keep one or two of them.
As an Canon user I have no experience of MTF gears.

I did a quick test for some minute and one thing that impresses me is the stabilization!!
I will upload clips from hand heald @45mm with stab on/off to show the difference.
Edit: added clip:

Another thing is that I can't get AF to work with the 14-45mm, the 14-42mm AF works but is slow and fails often.

This lens has a transport mode, and is very compact, image shows transport mode.

This lens has motorized zoom, but it seem not to work with BMPPC, but the focus ring have three modes;
Manual
AF
Motorized

Be aware that olympus lenses don't have IS. Olympus does IS in camera

I have this Panny 14-45 lens, AF works for me on my pocket.
Though the AF on the BMPCC is nothing to write home about in the first place, with any lens, but its still a convenient option nonetheless.

Is the AF working with BMPCC on your lens?

Here is a Quick test with stabilization on/off @14mm, 22mm, 45mm.
It's very shaky with out OIS!

Nice test. Thanks for sharing!

Anyone know of any other small lenses that have IS that are confirmed to be working. I am in search of the smallest/lightest lens I can find with IS so this can be a true pocket camera.

Yeah, it is.

And the tests look good; I would imagine the newer 'POWER OIS' lens from Panny would give even better results, over the old Mega OIS on our lens.
I just couldn't afford the $700 price tag for the 14-140mm with it.

The Panasonic Lumix 14-42mm modell Power OIS is about half size of 14-42mm Mega OIS.

The Power model has a transport mode.
