IR UV FILTER, Combine Filters.

PostTue Jun 15, 2021 8:26 am

Hello, I have a BMCC 2.5K EF camera
I would like to ask
1.Do I need to buy an IR filter?
2. What is the difference between IR and UV?
3.If there is UV, do I need IR?
4.Can three IR-ND-DIFFUSER filters be combined together?

thanks for answers

1. Yes.
2. Silicon is not very sensitive to UV, but pretty much to IR. Film was to the contrary.
3. UV is there when the sun is shining, so the would normally be IR too.
4. Yes, but they should have really good coating and you may get vignetting on wide lenses.
Maybe AI can help you. Or make you obsolete.
