But how do you know what your iris is set to with an EF lens?
You're not locked into using the auto iris, you can easily turn it off and go manual. As of yet, there's no f-stop reading on the camera (which, I'm sure they'll fix with one of their first firmware updates). A quick fix for now would be to put it on a dslr, set your f-stop, and then put it back on the camera. By the time you get your camera, I'm sure Black Magic will have sorted this out with a firmware update.
And as for knowing exactly how much DOF you're getting, a DOF calculator (available on the Kodak Cinema Tools app on your iPhone) would be perfect.
