Saving RAW files from Ursa Broadcast - SSD?

PostMon Jun 21, 2021 9:33 pm

I have a new Ursa Broadcast camera and I am trying to take advantage of all of its potential.

My goal is to shoot in highest resolution possible and save to RAW format and use these files in Resolve.

Obviously these files take up a lot of storage space, and fast storage is not cheap.

What have you found is the most reliable and affordable way to save the files? What cards have you found that work best for the best price? Does the USB-C work with external SSD? It appears that the Blackmagic URSA Mini PRO SSD Recorder is not available anymore, and that seemed like it would fulfill my needs by making less expensive blank media usable.

Thanks for any suggestions!

The Ursa Broadcast camera's USB port is for firmware updates only, not for recording media.

Internal recording media tested & recommended by Blackmagic is listed here:

For archive/backups, any media can be used. For editing, use Blackmagic's free "Disk Speed Test" and "RAW Speed Test" apps to determine your computer storage/CPU/GPU speed. These apps are available on the support page:

The only recording media for Raw files, are the CFast cards. You can get matched sets, see the BMD recommended media list for this camera.
