Hi there, as I've tried and shown in the past, the Black Magic Cinema Camera works incredibly well matched with an Alexa. I've shot three big international campaigns with them two and the level of images coming from the BMCC is stunning. This gets even better when you use the MFT version with some high end Cine PL lenses.
So now that I've received the Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera, I've decided to convert a great duo into a trio.
Well, during this new big commercial for Germany, in the shooting it worked super well, giving me loads of different options of angles and movements. I'm now in the editing suite I can definitely say that the footage has the same feeling. Of course the pocket that's still in prores probably has some more limitations but it's great to have it with you in the shoot as a C camera. You just drop it anywhere, give it a talent, mount is on anything, use with a gimbal, etc. Maybe I'll use two or three shots from it, but those are going to be awesome!
As for the BMCC I'll not add anything, enough I've said already about pairing it with the Arri. I always loved the duo, but now..... I LOVE THIS TRIO!

First time I brought out the pocket, on a little shoot, it was feeding out to a monitor and I recall someone walking by and stopping and saying "i didn't know we had the budget for an alexa." The obviously hadn't "seen" the camera behind all the gak... but then again most people didn't

I will say if you're gonna try to A-Cam a pocket, it's really important to dress it up a bit else folks tend to think you're using an iphone.

Hahaha, that's true! But anyways, I wouldn't use the Pocket as an A-cam, except for my personal, small stuff.
The pocket should be a C or D-cam on average-big budgets or a B-cam on small budgets, given there's a client on set.

@rheex I think you underestimating this camera

I have the Pocket and the 2.5K Cinema Cam as well. When RAW recording comes to the Pocket, the field will begin to level for projects delivered in 1080. That said, I do like how Film Dynamic range, even on ProRes, looks. I intend to use the 2.5K for effects and general A-Cam shooting, and the Pocket for ultra-telephoto and B-Cam. My projects will largely be feature films. Kudos to Blackmagic for finishing the convergence begun by Final Cut pro a decade or so ago. So glad to feel so empowered to return to my first, best destiny.

The waning of the theatrical audience as the younger audience oddly moves toward mobile (smart phone and pad device) entertainment bode very well for 1080 production in view of the eventual rise of 4K.

What I have seen of commercial 4K is disheartening in that, with the TV set incorrectly, as they all are in the showroom, live action takes on a rendered look destroying the suspension of disbelief. A greater fear is that this horrific downturn in motion picture storytelling might be accepted. Bad eyesight might help.

Personally; i'd much rather A-Cam a Pocket on a ULB feature than the Cinemas I've been using currently. Mostly because it is so small; but another big factor is the S16mm imager/MFT mounts which means I can rent out (or use my own) very good S16mm lenses -v- being stuck with odd-ish focal lengths on the 2.5K. This became a major problem on out Compact Prime kit (EOS mount) on the 2.5 because of the lack of really wide angle options for-- an example-- the elevator studio set we were on which didn't have wild walls.

Plus I like the removable batteries.

However, the one thing I loathe on the pocket are the "professional connectors." That MicroHDMI and the .7mm power input are major weakpoints says me.

Still, i don't see why the pocket couldn't be an a-camera anymore than a 5D, or on the last feature, gopros (no joke. not super easy to make an a-cam either... but right for that particular project.)
