Adobe Premiere Pro users, PLEASE check in here...

PostMon Oct 28, 2013 2:17 am

Hey guys, I just recently bit the bullet and got the Adobe Creative Cloud. I am ingesting my footage into premiere and when I go to click play or use the spacebar to play back footage, nothing. I can scrub the clip but I can not play anything at all. Im not sure at all what It could be.

My computer specs:
Processor: 2.7 GHz Quad Core Intel Core i7
Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024
Software: OS X 10.9 (Issue also happened on 10.8)

I am really hoping this can be fixed as I was very interested in the Adobe workflow. Hopefully someone has a solution or can point me in the direction of a solution.

Your setup is fine. Seems like a codec issue to me, though I don't claim to be an expert... What file type are you importing? It's weird because CC even has DNG as a native format.

From what camera, Prores, Dng? Cs6 up works with Prores no prob. Dng not so much, I believe there is a new patch for CC though.

Do you have the last update? The October 2013 update would add DNG compatibility.

Downloaded Creative Cloud two days ago, so I am assuming its fully up to date. The Creative Cloud app on my mac shows it as up to date.

The October update that was slated for Oct 15th has not come out yet, they said around nov 1st. This is suppose to at Cinema DNG as a native format to edit in. ProRes should work flawless assuming you have Quicktime installed. (So go install that and proress should work fine.. try reinstalling if you already have it.)

I've got Premiere Pro CC on Windows and have been checking daily for the update with the CinemaDNG support. It hasn't arrived yet, as already noted. I don't have a BMCC but want to download some clips and see how playback/editing is on my Sager Notebook. A former colleague of mine works in the Adobe video group and says the feature is very nice.

Are you running any third party hardware? One issue I know of is that if AE is open and using the Blackmagic Decklink, then playback in Premiere won't work. It seems like they fight for control of the Decklink. There are other issues that it could be too like codec issues in your system. Any third party hardware or software/codecs installed?

This is an almost barebones 15' MBPr, nothing third party that would interfere.

Still no luck after reinstalling. I am finding that it worked one time when I opened it then it stopped working again right after.. so odd.

Are you the one who posted on the Adobe forums with a similar issue?

Just double checking here (because you didn't say this time around if you're still trying both formats or just ProRes)- you're not still trying to use DNG's, right? Because thats not gonna work until the update comes out, whenever that is.

I do not even have those settings windows that I can access. I have gone into all of the settings that I can think of accessing and nothing looks like that window that you have open.

No I understood that the Cinema DNG would not work from the second that I got the program, I was using Final Cut to turn the files into a ProRes file beforehand. (obviously degrading quality) but Just trying to do something with a different file type.

It's in resolve. When the Resolve window is open, on the bottom left. Looks like a gear sprocket.

I have CS6 so I don't know if this is any help but: If the audio hardware setting in PR CS 6 Preferences is not set to a working driver the timeline will not play.

You can use your Adobe CC account credentials to post there. The Adobe staff often contact you personally and provide support with the issue.

A similar problem perhaps.
