Two SSDs dead? - one only read by camera

PostTue Oct 29, 2013 11:08 am

Hi!

We have three SanDisk 480GB SSDs.

One is working fine, but we have problems with two of them.

Neither of those two show up disk management, other than that the computer recognizes one of them as a mass storage device.

We are not able to format them.

The "funny" thing is that one of the broken disks actually is being read by the BMCC, so we can shoot with it. Although it take a few minutes before the camera is able to read it.
And the one which is being recognized by the computer is the other one...

Can anyone help us?

We have tried with two different computers, and two different SSD hubs on both, but it's not working out.

I have no idea if this would help, but I'd run DiskWarrior on the SSDs if they're formatted for Mac. DW has saved me many times over the years when hard drives started acting strangely. IMHO, DW is an indispensable app for any Mac owner.

Thanks, and sorry I forgot to mention these are exFat-formatted and we use Windows, and we have tried two different hubs on a Mac aswell.

We got one of the disk to show up in disk management, after we connected the SSD directly to the sata port on the computer. Then we formatted it, and I believe it should be fine now.

The other one, however, does not show up anywhere; not in disk management and not in BIOS.
