Tripod for Studio Camera 4K Pro

PostThu Aug 05, 2021 4:50 pm

hello

any advice about a tripod for my Studio Camera 4K Pro.
I'd like 1,80-1,90m height. Under 200€ if possible.

thanks

Even though the new Studio ca eras are light weight (somewhat a disadvantage when shooting on sticks), you will need a fairly heavy tripod to add some mass and stability to the camera platform. The camera’s base plate is a 19mm bridge plate type design, which will need a video head with a similar width mounting plate for best performance. A tripod is not something you want to skimp on, get the best you can afford.

A small lighter weight tripod is not going to hold the camera steady, and you will see every little movement, and camera may bounce when walking around it on wood floors. The best is an O’Connor, but not in everyone’s budget. There are some nice alternatives out there from Miller, Manfrotto and others. Remember, the video head is the heart of a tripod setup, and a good fluid head is a must, especially with lighter weight cameras.

That said, a studio camera pedestal on a good dolly setup is the best solution, very stable, very smooth, but the highest cost.
Cheers

A lower-cost alternative to the big names is the Sirui video tripods: these are the cheapest: https://www.siruiusa.com/index/photogra ... id=2&id=72 but the BCT line is better: https://www.siruiusa.com/index/photogra ... id=2&id=11 with the BCH-10 head: https://www.siruiusa.com/index/photogra ... id=4&id=27

I have the SH25. I would not use it if you will need to pan the camera while recording. There is flex in the legs if you have any tension from the ball head at all.

It's a great price, has a nice bowl ball head included, uses manfrotto plates, and is great when you need some height to shoot over standing peoples' heads. I would say they would be good for 2nd or 3rd tripods if you have locked down camera angles.

thanks for replies. Following yours advices, I took a look at manfrotto and sirui.

First brand seems to have very good reputation, but tripod and head reach a high cost. May be later...

SIRUI SH-25 have the height and selected price but they are a few comments about functional but not smooth. Last @MrHotter opinion confirm general feedbacks. :(

A pedestal on a dolly is most suited in a studio live production.
I'm curious how vulnerable it is to the element in outdoor use.
