LUTs vs Lighting - Can these be improved with LUTs?

PostSun Oct 24, 2021 3:22 am

Hi

I'm a beginner at color grading on Resolve, how much can I improve this set with LUTs vs lighting and a haze machine?

Any help would be appreciated, what would you try to improve for the look of it?

Thanks for your feedback and this forum.

If we don’t know what you are after then there is no way to answer your question.

Thanks, sorry I wasn't clear.... I'm just looking for a more cinematic look to it

Wondering people's thoughts on the coloring of it for advice.

Here are some examples of things that I really like, obviously, this is another step in production quality, but just to give you a sense of our target. How far can a LUT get me to this target or is it all lighting and haze and effects to achieve this?

Thank you very much for your feedback!

A LUT does not give you a cinematic look. You need to have the stage lit differently - and some haze.
There is quite a flat light onto the musicians.

In your first TBN example there is colored light from behind above (rim light) and the key light comes from the right above.
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.
