Static white dots, hot pixels?

PostMon Nov 11, 2013 8:09 pm

Hi,

got the BMPCC two days ago. First tests were at very lowlight, 1600 ISO.
The images are full of static white pixels, after raising the levels.
Recording a black clip with closed lens-cap and subtracting it from the footage helps.
I remember this workaround from older highspeed cameras.
Any firmware-update to do this "in-camera" like the others do?

I really wonder that this has not yet discussed before, at least I could not find anything about it. I've seen it in footage from other people too.

Another issue: when turning the camera off it happens sometimes that it gets back on by itself. Maybe because of pressing the power button too long?

Apart of the little problems: really incredible picture quality.

Cheers

At high ISO, with insufficient lighting, even with DSLR's and no post correction - you will see hot pixels.

If you see them in properly lit scenarios, then its cause for concern. From what you describe, it is not a properly lit scenario.

Thanks for your reply. Basically I was shooting in the dark. With some few lanterns around.
Nontheless: for the almost not present lighting I'm amazed by what I got! (Sigma 18-35, without Speedbooster yet)
