23.97 OFF SPEED equivalent problems Ursa Mini Pro 4.6K

Hello, so I think I must be missing something. I tried searching in the forums and in the manual, but could't find an answer. Hope someone can help.

So I usually record on either 23.98 or 29.97 frame rates, and so when i am trying to do some Slow Motion I tend to just change the project frame rate control on the camera to 59.94 which is, as i understand, it's drop-frame equivalent for 50% speed.

So far so good, except that i recently learned about OFF SPEED recording and I think it's great except that I do not see an option for recording in 59.94 or its equivalent for 120 (119.something) on the off speed menu.

All this seems very strange to me, as i think it would be obvious that if a project is in 29.97, the off speed (which some would argue is the right way to gather slowed down footage) for 50% slowed down of this setting would have to be 59.94, otherwise there would be some drop frame problems with the 29.97 timeline.

So, is there an off speed option for project frame rates of 23.98 or 29.97, etc., ? Do I HAVE to record in 24fps if I want to save myself of problems? It just seems weird that BMD thought about everything and then theres very simple issues like this one, So, as I said, I must be missing something, please help.

Recording off-speed for slo-mo is just a convenience, not a must. You can record regularly at any rate and change it to the target rate in the Clip Attributes and call it a day.
Imagine the project rate as the film projector and the off-speed rate at overcranking or undercranking the camera. In the end, you'll show every single frame, the off-speed frame rate just defines the ratio of slo-mo (or time-lapse).
If you ever decide not to have slo-mo and need such footage with synced sound, it's better to record regular. Off-speed footage will have sync issues.

What is the allure of 23.976 or 29.97?

Just out of curiosity. There are many around these parts that argue that all fractional framerates are antiquated concepts which should be dumped.

There’s no argument. Non-integer frame rates are as useless as interlaced. However, it’s a rarity that the shooter dictates the deliverable. North American broadcast video infrastructure is still very much 29.97/59.94.

These are frame rates for NTSC TV. If you don’t deliver to broadcasters, they are pretty irrelevant.
Use plain 30 for computer or smartphones or 60 for smoother motion.
