Sharper image in slowmo

PostThu Dec 02, 2021 3:12 am

This is not a problem - just trying to learn.
I shoot a lot of bird images and usually use 60-90 fps to give a bit more what I think of as realistic movement.
Generally I use a nikkor 70-200mm, 800 ISO, Prosres 442, 4k
Today I shot some footage at 220 fps, 2k drop mode and on downloading I feel that the image is sharper. Is this my wishful thinking or imagination or could the footage be sharper at 220 fps?
Thoughts.

If you’re using a constant shutter angle, then the exposure time becomes proportionally shorter as the frame rate increases. A shorter exposure means the motion blur is greatly reduced or effectively eliminated so the image appears sharp.

Of course, thanks Rick. I was using the same shutter and wondered if it was something like this but I seldom shoot quite that fast. Should have thought of that from my still photos. Glad I asked ;-)).
The images, even though the light was a bit off are so good. If this was a high rez site I would post some. But as you can imagine on birds the feathers really show the sharpness. Thanks.
