Blackmagic Camera Setup 7.5.1

PostThu Dec 02, 2021 3:29 am

Hi,

I searched and searched and I couldn't find anything, so here I am asking. My apologies if it has been answered already and I could not find it.

I have a 6k Pro, so per the release notes, this is relevant to me.

However, the release notes say...

What's new in Blackmagic Camera 7.5.1
Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro
    Manufacturing improvements.
What does "Manufacturing improvements" mean? It makes no sense to me. Did they mean to say something else? Manufacturing improvements can't be done after something is "manufactured". Will this update magically teleport my 6k Pro to the manufacturing line and improve it? #sarcasm

Anyone?

It means that Blackmagic had to change an essential part of the camera from one supplier to another (maybe because of delivery difficulties or a part became EOL - like for example the screen, audio chip, IO chip, etc). This is then reflected in a firmware change too, as they usually do not update older firmware versions too to support latest hardware changes. So 7.5.1 will be the base line firmware for all latest PCC6K revisions from November 2021 onward. Older camera revisions will still be able to downgrade to older firmware, but the latest revisions can’t.
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.

I see. But even if my camera is a build from earlier, the new versions are going to account for each (new and old), right?

Thank you!

Yes, new firmware versions can be installed on older revisions.
