Video Assist 12G Wishlist + Bug Fix

Title says it all. People please add in what you would like in hopes the higher ups will see this.

* Proper frame guide support. We have custom frame guides on the Pocket line. Can we get this as well...or even updated guides like 1:1 and 9:16?

* Fix the Scrubbing. The scrubbing function by double pressing the playback button doesn't work. Or better yet, can we get playback similar to the pocket series.

* Accessible False Colour. I shouldn't have to dig through the menu's to turn false colour on and off. There should be a quick option on the main screen. Better yet, give us an option to have a single quick access feature.

Thank you again Blackmagic for releasing another firmware update for the Video Assist, but failing to implement something as basic as 1:1 frame guides.

Six months have gone by. Video assist still missing basic frame guide support like 1:1 and 9:16. Playback still garbage compared to the pocket line.

Shoddy software combined with an even shoddier design. (Im looking at you, the guy who decided where the USBC port would be).

At this point I am just hoping a v2 model to come out and fix this.

I'd LOVE to have BRAW on a FX6.

Already contacted BMD directly, but I think if enough people chip in, they might actually try to get this done.

Love the VA and don't want to switch to Atomos, plus I'd be forced to Adobe with ProRES RAW.

You would think they could have implemented the new slider focus assist option. At the moment the Video Assist is pretty useless for Pocket camera owners.

It appears device is such low priority that I would not be wishful on any sort of feature update in the future. Did find a bug though! When you have 200+ clips on the Video Assist, the playback will eventually slow down then freeze. Around 300+- clips you will only be able to go back so far to review clips. Then it will freeze.

It is a GREAT feature when you are showing a client clips from earlier in the day. Once you hit 400 clips...you can say good bye to playback completely. As those clips are now gone! You apparently can only review so many clips. Then it resets...and you can only see the latest 10 or so. Good times. Good times on this device indeed.

Approaching my one year relationship with this device. Still no love in sight. Same bugs exist as mentioned prior. Please, if they could fix perhaps *one* of my previous complaints that be great.

USB port placement, screen color issues, weight.
Hoping for an all new 2nd generation as I won't buy this one but external Braw is nice.

Two months later. Bugs still exist. Approaching a year now and they still can not add proper frame guides.

+1 and for me the ability to send a downstream Lut like the SmallHDs, would be very useful. A separate brightness control for the scope graticules would be nice too.

Hey what a most welcome thread !

Need so much a basic list to navigate through all clips ! I use it a lot as a continuity device to have all the previous material filmed under hands quickly on set and after 2 days of shooting (even one big day) it is a mess to find and navigate to a specific fileā€¦

BLACKMAGIC DO SOMETHING ! Fix this and a new market will open ! In france we use that kind of recorder/screen all the time on set and so far nothing beats the Pix240 which not even produced anymore ! With a clip list the Video Assist 7 would be the perfect one !

They haven't even added 1:1 frame guide support. I wouldn't hold your breath for any additional features.

Almost approaching two years, and still...no 9:16 frame support on this device.

Just like to remind everyone. It has been two years, and still no 9:16 frameguide support on their flagship Video Assist 12G.

Please. Can we have this in 2024. It is a small ask.

Some claim the BMPCC 6k Pro and the 6K FF HDR screen is identical to the Video Assist 5" 12G. If they are the same they certainly deliver the image differently. The HDR screen on the cameras are more contrasty and there is no way to tune display settings. Even the VA offers limited tuning options but the cameras don't offer anything apart from brightness level.
