Ursa MiniPro 12k Realtime Metadata feed

PostFri Jan 21, 2022 6:35 pm

Curious if anyone has any insight on grabbing a live metadata feed coming out of the URSA Mini 12k Pro camera itself, or if it's even possible? I'm aware the metadata is captured as a sidecar file with the footage and can be read individually in Post, but I'm looking to ingest it realtime on a PC. Perhaps over SDI or another connection I'm not considering?

We're currently shooting with the Fujinon Cabrio xk 20-120 lens, which delivers i/cooke & LDS to the camera via the PL mount, but doesn't have a direct metadata port out like the Premista series and their Lemo port.

Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

While it doesn't answer your direct question, it may be useful to tell you that all the metadata captured in camera is stored in the BRAW file itself. The sidecar files are only used for overriding that embedded metadata in post.

Thanks for the BRAW/sidecar clarification Jamie.

Do you know if the metadata would follow the BRAW over SDI if ingested into a PC? Possibly accessed by the BMD Developer SDK?

BMD cameras don’t send BRAW out the SDI out ports.
I don’t know whether the metadata you’re looking to capture is sent out with the 10bit 422 video + audio over SDI. I’d suggest emailing BMD support with that question.

Funny, I did ask BMD support and they suggested I pose my question here. ha!

I'll definitely look into the 422 video route though. Thanks again for the tip.
