This brings also some hope that it could be possible to have USB PTP control* at the same time when using USB SSD for recording, will test during next week.

*record button, focus, WB etc over mechanical buttons and controls using USB interface.

I do not know because I use angelbird Cfast cards ; -)
but I will plug them in for testing.

only the ocico should work, the TEKQ is TB only!

here we see the same problems as with almost every SSD (NVMe)

edit: when using the CFast card (angelbird pro CF 256GB) these problems do not always occur, but ... :- (
(today, on a second run, I had almost the same behavior)

no, the recording just stops.
is always switched on with me how to proceed with writing errors and thus no surprises in the cut.

I had already heard that this happens with higher ISO values with the 4k.

there is also no difference at all whether Q0 or 3:1 (in seconds or anything)

something must not have been right tonight,
because today I have repeated this again and now the CFast shows pretty much the same behavior.
(have also edited it above and my joy is again pressed)

but that doesn't bother me now, because I only shoot 8:1 anyway and that mainly with ISO 400.

Is the USB-C port fast enough to support it? I thought it was 5Gb/s?
That translates to around 625MB/s if my math is correct.

Fast SSD

PostWed Feb 23, 2022 5:25 pm

I tested ssd not nvme be cause I had Ursa Mini Pro g1, pocket 4K and 6k and 625 is also the limit of usb 3.1.

Yesterday I tested San disk extreme ssd // samsung evo 860
in startech box usb with ausp https://amzn.to/35w85rR

i tested with 400 3200 iso.

6k 50p
Q3 full disk without stop
5:1 full disk without stop

6k 2.4.1 50p
Q0 full disk without stop
3:1 full disk without stop

6k 30p
3:1 full disk without stop
Q0 full disk without stop

5.7k 60p
5:1 full disk without stop

Yesterday I tested different iso shooting traffic out of my windows. Tomorrow I hope to do more test with sea and moving leaf

I think that nvme are more sensible also to temperature and went in throttling during recording that could cause slow down on performance
