FilmConvert tips for new user?

PostMon Dec 02, 2013 9:53 pm

I'm new to using FilmConvert. I'm running it in Final Cut Pro X.

I know it's all done "to taste", but are there any particular film settings that people find work particularly well?

Also, should I always use the Super16 sensor setting, since that's the size of the Pocket Camera sensor (which is what I'm shooting with)?

Any other helpful tips are welcome.

It is such a simple program that it is truly a matter of just try it and see

Reichmann gave a very simple protocol for use

I just got it and agree- just use it and see how you like it.

I love this program, I think it was the quickest I've ever gone from trying the demo to whipping out my credit card.

FilmConvert is great. Just make sure your lighting and exposure is right.

I use the BMPCC "film" profile and usually wind up knocking down the contrast to 50 percent and removing the grain.

I absolutely love the color on the profiles.

While there are tutorials on the site, I think this is one of those apps/plug-ins where you can let your creativity run wild. I have not yet installed the OFX plug ins for Resolve but they are downloading as I write this response.
