Does the Canon CNE 18-80 Servo Zoom work with Zoom Demand

PostTue May 03, 2022 11:19 pm

Could use some help finding out if someone has any success with this combo.

I have recently acquired:
BM Studio Camera 4k Pro
Metabones PCCK4k .71 T Speedbooster
Canon CNE 18-80 Servo Zoom Lens.

Everything works properly except the Blackmagic Zoom Demand.

All functions with focus, autofocus, and Function Buttons.
But the Zoom Rocker does nothing.
It also seems as if the Zoom isn't being triggered through ATEM SDI controls either.

Tried Multiple Speedboosters with no luck. (Metabones Smart Adapter MFT - EF)
Tried Lens on BM Ursa Mini Pro. (Zoom works through ATEM)
Tried Updating Firmware on Lens, and Camera. No luck thus far.

This works with URSA Broadcast G2 with the zoom and focus demand but unfortunately not on the Studio 4K Pro via the Metabones at the moment.

We are hoping that Metabones may be able to add support in an update but you will need to get in contact with them about it as the zoom functionality should be being passed through.

In the mean time, the zoom rocker that pairs with 18-80 is easy to reposition to use as a demand (hence why it comes with a long cable and poorly positioned port to plug it into) and extensions can also be purchased. Neat to hear it works with the G2, it's a great lens.

Hi there,

I own a bunch of Metabones adapters and BMD Micro Studio Cameras, and with the CN-E 70-200mm I have working servo zoom on these old MSC's via the software control. It works with any of my range of speed boosters and smart adapters. So it seems the Metabones adapters pass the servo zoom information fine if they work with these older BMD cameras?

I'd really love to use my CN-E 70-200mm with the BMD zoom demand on the new studio camera.
