Relation "field of view" / "record resolu = windowed sensor"

PostSat May 14, 2022 7:25 pm

Hi !
I am so glad I understood now how Blackmagic Camera works.
I had the problem of not getting enough "field of view" on the recording.
I already bought another lense, a wider one, one with 10mm, a Samyang Canon EF.
It did not work. The lense is great, the lense is not the problem. It's really the physics
and how Blackmagic works internally.

I draw a graphics with my comment. This explains much better than words in a documentation.
Feel free to comment, critize me or so, is anything to mention in this case?

All cameras work like this… not only Blackmagic Design cameras.
When you record in raw all sensors crop picture, is raw… (12k Blackmagic Design exception be cause not use Bayer sensor pattern).

Switch to prores and you can record with full sensor without cropping. (With except of high frame rate).
