Best MFT TO PL Mount for BMMCC

PostThu May 19, 2022 1:23 pm

I am aware of this thread

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=92824&p=850913#p850913

but wanted to get peoples take given what is available in 2022. Also, maybe most importantly, I have the camera in the SmallRig cage (I’ll include a picture) so I was wondering what people recommend as being the best option comparability wise as well. Thanks!

Edit: I think a better question may be does anyone know if the Wooden Camera MFT to PL Adapter will work with the BMMCC SmallRig cage? Thanks again!

The mounting is not compatible. I think Smallrig makes/made a lens support for the Metabones mft-pl adapter.

Good Luck

Oh bummer okay thanks for letting me know. Are they all more or less equal? Is the metabones adapter worth buying?

The WC setup is by leagues a better turnkey option, direct connection to the cage.

What would you recommend I do then if I am already using the SmallRig cage? Thanks for all the help!

Edit: Nevermind, will probably just wait for v2 of the Hot Rod PL to MFT, or Vocas based on everyone’s recs

The best PL Mount adapter is the original made by the inventor of the PL mount adapter for mirrorless cameras, Hot Rod Cameras.

MFT are sold out until early-mid June. But if you send an email to email@hotrodcameras.com to be notified when they are back in stock they will let you know.

Here's.a link to the RF version, if you want to see what it looks like. https://hotrodcameras.com/hot-rod-camer ... r-mark-ii/

And here’s a link to the just released issue of Scientific American that explains the inspiration mentioned in some detail:

The HotRod Camera MFT/PL mount is excellent, good to hear they are still in production. I had one of the early ones and it was great. The Wooden Camera MFT/PL Pro (can be shimmed to correct FFD) mount is also very good! well machined, and is one of the lightest ones also. The advantage of the WC adapter is it attaches to the front of their camera cages (made for the MFT cameras). I just happen to also be selling mine, as I sold my Micro and Pocket cameras and cages, see my listing under Off Topic forum. For PL mount details see: https://hotrodcameras.com/camera-access ... t-cameras/
