Camera Utility 7.9 Update Fail on Windows

PostWed Jul 06, 2022 12:48 am

After 2 install/uninstall/install cycles and 8 (yes, that's right, EIGHT) computer crashes I've just uninstalled the latest Blackmagic Camera Utility update (7.9) and will not be looking back. Oh and btw...it was never able to recognise that I had a single camera connected to my PC in spite of trying a number of different USB port/cable combinations.

A very f#@%ing disappointing result for a piece of software that should be far less complex than the post- and live production offerings.

I could say more but it would be neither helpful to the community or a good use of my time on top of the time I've already wasted this morning! But any thoughts of a G2 purchase are now well and truly gone...

Well, as this does work for many, many others, there must be a problem on your computers end.
If you had computer crashes because of installation and uninstallation, that might tell you something isn’t right with that particular computer device.

Maybe an issue with the USB drivers for your motherboard? Maybe another device on your USB chain?
Maybe a security/antivirus software meddling with the installation?
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.

It failed once for me too but I just did the process again and it worked, maybe you can try to do it multiple times too?
I've had mine hooked to PC via USB cable and charging just in case ;)

Also not stated is Windows version used. I would suggest to stay on Window 10 and not 11 for the moment. (This goes especially for Resolve.)
