PostSun Dec 15, 2013 2:50 pm

Hey guys!
Has anyone got experience with this mic?http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/966010-REG/shure_vp83f_condenser_shotgun_mic.html
Will it work with BMPCC? BMCC?

I think you still need a mixer for the BMCC, which kinda sucks.

Hi,

I tested the Shure VP83f:
audio recorded without Shure's low-cut-filter applied, no NoiseReduction applied in post either

all audio was recorded using maximum gain of the Shure's camera-output into BMC EF via its LINE-input@25-29%, firmware 1.21 (except for one clip where both versions are audible: recorded in BMC and synced file from Shure's inbuilt flash-recorder)

You can have a look/listen here:

Has anyone been to NAB and seen any hints on the RODE counterpart of such a mic? It was once announced as Rode Videomic HD and would beat the Shure spec-wise, but somehow they withdraw it, rumours said, they think of releasing it in the future but support never answered me.

Here's a description:

I'm about to buy the Shure again (as I sometimes miss the opportunity not to carry around an external recorder or preamp plus mic on top of a run&gun-setup) but would wait if the Rode was around the corner.

Thanks.
