Broadcast G2 splitting files - H264

PostThu Jul 28, 2022 12:01 am

Hi!

We've just bought a pair of Broadcast G2's and one of the things we were hoping to do with it was to record H264's to hand off conference records etc. straight to clients.

In our testing we've found that with the quality set to low or medium the camera breaks the file into multiple files meaning we have to put them back together and re-export before handing the files off. We may as well just record in ProRes as we do with our mini pro's!

Recording in high or SDI quality fixes the files breaking into multiple parts, but these are too high a bit rate to give to clients, again we'd have to transcode.

This seems ridiculous! Does anybody have a solution to this, or if there's anybody here from Blackmagic - is this something that's going to be fixed?

You might want to publish this in the Live Production section of the forum. Without knowing the details, it doesn’t appear to me to make any sense.

Also it only does it only quite long records. It seems to be when the file reaches around 34GB, so a couple of hours.
