Finally attempted to update my BMVA12G7 from firmware 3.6 to 3.7. Powered on using the mains power adapter with battery mounted. Progress on the firmware upgrade went to 99% and then the dreaded No Video Assist Found message. Never seen that before.
Tried redoing the USB connection but still the same status. Could not turn off the BMVA12G7 with the On/Off switch. Finally thought of pulling off the battery and the power source. Reconnected the power adapter and voilá, the VA came back to life and Status indicated 3.7 running! The Video Assist Setup also indicated 3.7 Software is up to date. I like a happy ending after a good scare!
