P4k Camera firmware updates

PostThu Jul 28, 2022 4:09 pm

I have a p4k with only the first or second firmware update. Do I need to have all previous firmware updates before installing the 7.9.1 Update?

Ricardo Marty

p.s can someone post all the previous p4k updates just in case?

No, you don’t need to install various previous versions. The latest firmware version includes every routine.

If you’re coming from an original release on the early BMPCC4K that used CinemaDNG, remember you’ll lose that capability as it’s replaced by the more flexible BRAW.

So the 7.9.1 is all I need?

Keep in mind that 7.9.1 specifically addressed issues that arose when not updating sequentially. This is far from the first time it’s happened. There have also been several firmware packages that bunked up hardware because of the KISS mentality of just downloading the latest firmware rather than the correct package.

I would, if you still have a 6.x firmware on the 4K, first update to 7.3 before installing the 7.9.1.

Where did they say that? I had major issues with 7.9 even though I’ve updated sequentially.

7.9 was the problem, 7.9.1 is the fix, point 7.

We've just released Camera v7.9.1 based on some feedback.

1. We've improved the reliability of UBS-C SSD recordings, as well as record start and stop lag time.

2. We've reverted the focus zoom behavior with the scroll wheel. It now defaults to zoom instead of changing the location of the zoomed area.

3. We've fixed an issue where off-speed recording is turned off after entering and exiting playback.

4. We've restored greater than 60 fps recording on the Pocket 4K for the 4K 2.4:1 recording format.

5. We've improved the motion sensor data accuracy of Pocket 4K.

6. We've improved the realiability of lens OIS switch detection for MFT lenses on the Pocket 4K.

7. Updating the camera from older version should be more realiable.
