Different noise performance between Pocket 6k and 6k pro???

PostSun Aug 07, 2022 12:27 pm

So I’ve finally gotten a chance to really put the pocket 6k and pocket 6k pro side by side image wise. I the only one that notices the pocket 6k pro to have slightly noisier image in shadows in comparison to the original pocket 6k? I’m even noticing this when both cameras are on gen5 color science? Also tried multiple pocket 6k pro cameras. Is there any reason for this?

Are you sure that you have exactly same firmware? Then should have same sensor and same processor.
Do you do the linear test with cameras on from same time, same lens, do wb and later shoot at same parameters?

Wb can influence a bit the noise. If I remember correctly Blackmagic sensor had a native Wb at 5000k, if you do wb later you could change a bit noise level at single color levels, but should be very few difference.

Time of camera On mean different sensor temperature and that can influence the different noise level.

Might just be sample variation. No two sensors are exactly the same.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.
