Camera Freeze, Won't Turn Off

PostFri Aug 12, 2022 8:06 pm

I've been having an issue with my bmpcc 6k (non G2), while filming weddings I've had my camera touch screen stop working (can't remember if the buttons on the back also stop working) in middle of the day as well as not be able to shut off. What's also strange is that I can still record with the record button but when I switch the camera off it just stays powered on. I have to disconnect the battery to get it to eventually turn off. Once I disconnect the battery and turn it back on the issue doesn't come back. Could this come from leaving the camera powered on for too long? I have a large vmount battery, so I don't always power down every chance I get.

My rig:
190w vmount powering camera through a vmount battery plate with a dtap to 12v cable, this battery also powers a 6in monitor through the battery plate with a 12v cable. This is the only way I have ran the camera, so the issue could be in here somewhere.

What do you recommend I do from here?

Install the latest version of the camera firmware 7.9.1.

This happened to me on my first shoot (with the P4K) and everything you described happened to my camera. I was at the beach and outside in summer during sunset and it was humid.

It never happened again after that shoot. Weird.

The issue happened with both 7.9 and 7.9.1
