Leaving Internal Battery In While Using NPF External?

Hi guys, should i leave the internal battery in while using NPF 970 battery on the Pocket 4k? Or should I leave it out?
I’ve been leaving it in so as to have a backup when Npf drains, however ive heard that the Npf drains faster when internal LP-E6 is in, because it is wasting a lot of its power charging the internal battery, so best to leave internal battery out while using Npf. Or maybe there’s another reason I’m unaware of.
I like the idea of leaving it in bc I can hit swap and also it’s a backup when the Npf runs low. However, I’m happy to leave it out if it’s bad for the camera or drains the NpF too fast.
What do you guys think, which is the best way to go?
Thanks!

If you fully charge your LP-E6 before putting it in the camera that will minimize the charging from the NPF. Leaving the battery in is just fine as the camera treats the NPF the same way it does the AC power supply using the NPF when attached. You can then hot swap NPF's as needed and the LP-E6 will seamlessly provide power during the swap.

Wemrick's explanation is exactly why you *want* to leave the camera battery in operation. As for many gifs you will need to change out batteries and you can do so without even stopping recording.

It’s a matter of taste. Or needs:-)
If you need to hot swap leave it in camera, i did it many times.
If you not need hot swap, camera drain 22w/h without battery in, drain 30w/h with battery in.
I had baxxtar nfp of 10.000 mAp since 72w, I prefer to use it without battery that cover most of work also very long theatrical production.

The manual doesn't go into details about it, but it says this: "When powering your camera with a custom made power source, we recommend removing its internal battery."

Thanks Carlo! I was baffled why Blackmagic officially says to leave it out. But so far no issues leaving it in, on my end.
