How does BRaw from Fuji's X-H2s work?

The Fuji X-H2s can record BRaw over HDMI with a BM Video Assist, but still has an X-Trans, not a Bayer sensor.

Does this mean that newer versions of Resolve can demosaic X-Trans (and if yes, does this entail a playback performance penalty)?

Or is there some trickery happening in the recording and processing pipeline where the original X-Trans pattern gets computed/converted into a Bayer pattern in order work in Resolve (and other programs that support BRaw)?

The Ursa 12K isn't Bayer either, Braw encoding in that camera uses gaussian filter kernels to derive color. The 12k uses 3 red and 3 blue filters.

My guess is that this sensor would require 9 filter kernels for chroma encoding, the same filters could be used for blue and red in alternating 6X3 blocks.

The luminance image would require it's own set of filters.

Good Luck

I also have a FUJI X-H2S and an Atomos Ninja V and propresraw doesn't work. I think it's wishful thinking from Fuji.

Have you activated ProRes Raw on the Ninja V? if not, you need to go onto the Atomos site and follow the procedure.

Yes, of course, the proresraw codec was also activated a year ago when I had a Panasonic GH5 camera. Now I also have a Panasonic S5, the proresraw codec also works there. I only have a problem with the FUJIFILM X-H2S.

The Ninja V is limited to lower framerates with the Fuji, the Ninja V+ can record them all.

Maybe you need a firmware update? There is one specifically for your camera 10.77 July 5th.
