Resolve 18 / Windows "unknown format" 16GB Ultra Card

PostThu Aug 25, 2022 5:49 am

Black Magic 6k Camera (new)
shooting BM Raw constant Bit Rate 8.1
5.7k 17.9 5744+3024 (glorious landscape footage)
Cannon 200mm EFL Lense with EF 1.4 111 Extender
Attempting to import into Resolve 18 full version
MSI desktop I9 10 core 68 Gb etc etc
issue is -- data on 16 Gb Ultra Card
both Windows 10 and Resolve not recognizing card
reporting "unknown format"

Do I need to do away with these old flash cards
is there another issue to contend with ..?

thank you :ugeek:

May be that you format sd in camera in hfs+ (macOs file system).
Try with free tool for win hfs+ explorer app.

Even if the card mounts, I doubt there would be any playable file on it. A Sandisk Ultra SD card does not have anywhere near a high enough data rate to reliably record in a 6K Pocket camera. Use media from BMD’s officially tested list:

One might do a quick test on a 16GB card for a few seconds with a BMPCC6K but hopefully you’ll be purchasing much larger capacity cards that are verified by BMD as suitable. You can format them as exFAT (Windows compatible) in-camera before recording with them. Even my external audio card is a minimum of 32GB. Enjoy.
