how to mount mic on p4k

Hi,

How can I simply mount a mic to the top of the pocket 4K without a cage? It has a hole to screw something in but you can't just plop the mic on top like with dslrs.

Also, are they are any budget shotgun mics that don't pick up feedback? I had the rode mic pro R which was good but broke. I got a rode videomic go but it picks up feedback from my studio lights.

Pickup a Smallrig cold shoe adapter. They go for about $10US for two. Even Amazon carries them with next day delivery. Regarding the mic, I use a Rode NTG-2. Works well for me.

an important part is the shock mount (anti-vibration)

You'll need these things:

If you have a shock mount already or if it comes with your mic, then you don't need #2.

Thanks for the replies. Can I screw the cold shoe directly into the hole of the top of the camera or do I need some kind of additional piece on the camera? I'm guessing I can screw it in, just making sure.

Yes you can. The cold shoe will likely come with a 1/4-20 screw that will fit the camera hole.

I use an L bracket that I broke at the bend. the resulting plate is only 25 cm so its compact. Now I have two mounting places on top of the camera since the L bracket has two opposing mounting screws. This way I can mount a EVF or Monitor directly on top of the camera and then I rotate the mic on a 45 degree angle.

If you like some flexibility of mounting things on the BMPCC without having to use a cage, you’ll want one of this instead.

Here’s how I have it mounted on mine which I don’t use a case.

You can mount an external SSD, a mic, EVF, and there’s a 15mm rail clamp for a motorize follow focus. I can also mount the smallrig display shade on it. A nice top rig indeed.
