Footage mysteriously disappears but still on card

PostSun Dec 22, 2013 5:29 pm

While out shooting yesterday, I noticed the first few takes were not on the card when I tried to play them back in the camera. Made me really nervous but there were there when I loaded it onto my macbook pro. Anyone else experience this?

Shooting ProRes on the Pocket.

Did you change the framerate in between?

yes I did. Had it at 24, then at 30, then at 23.98.

So this is normal behavior?

Yes, the pocket camera only plays back the current frame rate/film settings currently selected. So if you, shoot 24fps, then go to 30fps, the 24fps clips will not play until you go back to 24fps. Same as BMCC camera

Exactly. I don't know if that is a bug or a feature, but that's the way the camera works. Of course it's rare you'd shoot different framerates, but it happens.

Hmm that's odd, a few months ago I was shooting with my BMCC some regular clips at 24fps, then I switched to 30fps for Time Lapse and the playback was alright. I'll check later when shooting again; I wasn't aware of that non playback when switching frame rates, but as I mentioned my playback was alright.
