Software, Firmware and general support for BMMCC
Posted: Sat Oct 01, 2022 3:54 pmI have a new Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera and I recently purchased a second 'as new' BMMCC. Of course I would like them to be both set up exactly the same and with the same firmware. No software came with either so I took a deep breath and ventured into the nightmare that is Blackmagic Support. I remember what an AWFUL place it is from when I was trying to keep my original BMPCC up to date.
Of course, after 45 minutes of futile scrolling, I cannot find ANYTHING for the BMMCC.
It is the absolute worst support page architecture ever. Even typing in the specific name of the camera does nothing. Just an endless enormous list of downloads for a multitude of gear in no particular order.
EDIT: I found a You Tube video (in Chinese with subtitles) where I gleaned a vital clue ... Camera Setup v5.2 August 2018. Now that I had something specific to look for it did not take long to find the download link and now, both cameras are up to date with firmware 4.17.
Blackmagic clearly does not know about not being able to see the wood for the trees.
