Record trigger with MagicFIZ?

PostWed Dec 07, 2022 7:43 pm

Looking at Smallrig MagicFIZ focus pull system for shoulder rigs. The motors and wheels work well, but can't see a way to trigger recording on a BMCC 6K Pro.

I am using the USB-C on the camera for recording to SSD (though I did try that connection). Both units also have Bluetooth, and I can start a connection with the camera seeing something is trying to connect, but can't finish the connection since the camera wants me to input a code and the MagicFIZ has no keyboard to enter it. I have seen others get around this with software (www_youtube_com/watch?v=SpKRHGeGpNE&t=1s) so in theory, it "could" work, but I don't currently see a way with MagicFIZ.

Anybody done this? Have a better solution? I appreciate any help or guidance.

Two years later ? Any solution ? I have exactly the same problem and this is very frustrating...

I have seen that you can pair the Tilta Nucleus Nano with the Pro version of the Bluetooth+ app, which can send the rec/stop signal to the camera. That would be an intermediate solution, since I still would need my phone or iPad, but I could leave it somewhere in the room instead of having it always on me...

But does someone know if the Bluetooth+ app is also compatible with the Smallrig MagicFIZ ?

If there is no answer, I think I could give a try, which at worst would only cost me 10$...
