We've seen short film phenomenas fail when attempting to adapt to a feature length film before

The producers hired a 40-year old cable TV writer/producer/showrunner with numerous credits (Westworld [when it was still good], Sons of Anarchy, etc.), so here's guessing the movie won't be bound by the limitations of the original or the maturational shortcomings of a 17-year old.

One could then ask if a kid with no prior dramatic experience is really the best director they could find, but the rejoinder would be, how many of the others already have 12 million views.....

I think the concept of turning a great short into a great feature has proven to be difficult.

Commercial success, true. Which is all Warner Brothers wanted when they bought the name and hype (outside of David’s basic idea the feature was quite poor in my opinion).

Same could happen with 'The Backrooms' but let's see, A24 aren't the typical vampire producers.
