Cheap focus pulling - lensstraps

PostThu Jan 16, 2014 6:19 pm

Anybody has experience with these Lensstraps?

When pulling focus, does the lens shake with this, as your hands are turning, or they are nice and steady?

Seems like the weight of the rod would rack the lens whenever it felt like. Design seems similar to the backfocus locks on ENG lenses.

I got mine today, and... meh.

The idea is fine, and with many lenses it may be a good solution. But I'm currently using it on the Lumix 14-45, and the problem is that the lens strap is as wide (if not slightly wider) than the focus ring on the lens. So when the strap is pulled tight like it should be, it's essentially grabbing onto the lens making it pretty much impossible to get a smooth movement.

On any lens with a wider focus ring, it seems like it would work fine.

Joseph:

Thanks! Bad news.... I just ordered a set for myself yesterday...

Could you test it with a lens with a wider focus ring? I saw a video on youtube, where during focus pulling the image (the lens) moves heavily... I would like to know that it's the case or it happened because of a stupid cameraman....

Thanks!
