Is there any advantage or disadvantage to putting a V mount battery on the UMB while using AC power?

I recommend insurance: always have a fully-charged (V-mount) battery on the camera when shooting (not when stored though) even when I’m getting an AC feed to the camera’s AC power adapter. Takes away all the worry about accidentally kicking a cable often in the dark. Any interruptions are handled without a loss to in recording.

Thank you Rick!! Perfect answer. I browsed the operation manual and Google numerous times and could not get anything regarding having both power sources active during shooting. Makes perfect sense.

Exactly why we do and adds a bit of weight to counter balance our b4 lenes.

You’re right about that additional counterweight feature!
