No Electronic Aperture Control

PostTue Jan 28, 2014 7:36 pm

Hello all,

My first post here after picking up a BMCC yesterday. I figured this would happen after reading the forum, my trusty Canon EF 24-70 Version 1 lens is not able to electronically change apertures with the BMCC. I was surprised though when older lenses were able to change the aperture, particularly an old Canon 50mm 1.4.

Is there an official list of EF lenses that actually have working electronic apertures? Reading the forum things seem to be a real toss up with some lenses starting and stopping working per firmware updates. Is there any consistency to this madness? I'm spent right now with a cine lens with manual aperture control is out of the budget but I wouldn't mind spending for something cheaper so long as I can guarantee a working electronic aperture.

Love this camera but a bit sad about the inconsistent full compatibility.

Thoughts?

There are links to lens compatibility lists in the forum FAQ:
