Old Barn Find

Today is my lucky day, I just wasted $1500.00 on 10 year old camera, it is not even 4k !

I have bought 10 years old camera, looking mint, this particular model (MFT 2.5K) I was chasing for the long time. Hard to believe that even box is mint, let alone camera.

What a mess of the camera this is. No IBIS, no auto focus, horrible rolling shutter, moire, weird shape and design, not even 4K, ridiculous battery life, compatible media drives are almost impossible to find
and I paid AUD $1500.00 FOR 10 YEAR OLD CAMERA...hmmm... old barn find...

Call me stupid, I will be shooting feature film handheld with this as a B camera to ALEXA and only 2 lenses, Leica DG 12mm 1.4 & 12-35 OIS 2.8.

No use of stabilisers, cranes, dollies, steadicam, drones, although I have it all.

Back to the basics, redhead tungstens and CDNG magic.

I’m sure you know already, but the MFT mount on this model is “dumb” meaning no power, no comms with camera. It won’t allow iris control or OIS on those lenses.

I am aware of it, will be shooting both lenses wide open.I have a few SSD's from EF model I own.

I use Samsung 850 Pros on a Production Camera 4K. Old stock for 860 Pro should still be available.
Otherwise 870 EVO should in theory work fine with it.

There’s been a wealth of manual MFT glass released since this camera was new. I’d be more concerned about the battery and ir filter.

True, IR glass has some minir staining around the edge. BMD was kind enough to replace my IR glass on my EF model for small fee, fee years ago.
Not sure if they still do it but i d be brave enough to DIY if i have to.

I still have and love mine. It truly is a pain in the ass in some ways, but I love it anyways. The new 12k is the only camera that I like as much and I'm still waiting for a smaller form factor with that sensor. What a great find. Enjoy.

Yikes! That's incredible.

Even more incredible if it hasn’t stuck together due to lack of use and perhaps the conditions in which it was stored.
