DIT Station

PostWed Oct 17, 2012 4:54 pm

Hi Im putting together a dit station that will be used with the arri alexa and (eventually god willing) the BMCC. My question is has anyone tried the Seagate desktop thunderbolt SSD adapter? I am hoping to use this to download the BMCC SSD's and the SSD's from the convergent design Gemini 444 (via there own adapter). Also im interested to know if anyone has any hardware recommendations in order to facilitate the transcoding of the RAW footage to ProRes or DNXHD. Im guessing that this is going to a bit of a bottle neck so anything that could accelerate the process would be great. I will be putting in a Macbook Retina with sonnet pcie thunderbolt chassis so i can put a capture card/transcoding card also

If you will have access to AC power during/after your shoots, get the fastest, multi-core, desktop Mac Pro or Windows workstation (with fast GPU, too) that you can afford. Will be several times faster than a laptop.
