BMPCC 6K recording issues with T5 SSD's

About 6 months ago my production company purchased a BMPCC 6K camera.
The camera was first used on a two month shoot abroad. The camera crew used two Samsung T5 SSD's to record footage in 6K BRaw and had no issues during the entire shoot (apart from a USB-C cable that sometimes caused corrupt files due to a loose connection, but that problem was not common and resolved by replacing the cable with another one).
Two weeks ago, another crew started using exactly the same equipment for a different shoot and starting running into issues with the two T5 disks. First, a red exclamation mark appeared and didn't allow to record any footage to the disks (this was in 6K BRaw). Lowering the resolution to 4K also didn't work. Formatting the disks from exFAT to Mac OS Extended Journaled worked sometimes, but very unstable. Using Mac OS Extended Journaled Encrypted yielded better results in 4K (25fps and 50fps), but then after some time this also stopped working.
I searched the BM fora and found several posts with similar problems.
Possible causes seem to be:
1. USB-C cable is not fast enough -> we purchased a 40 Gb/s cable, but problems persisted
2. Firmware update causes problems with T5 disks -> we rolled back to different older firmwares, as far back as 6.9.6, but this didn't work either (current firmware is 8.1.2)
We're currently shooting on SanDisk SD's (Extreme Pro 128gb/ 300 MB/s) internally and this allows us to shoot 4K Raw) and this poses no problems. But it's far from perfect and would still try to figure out what the actual problem is with the T5 disks. Especially, because everything worked fine several months ago with the same setup.
Any suggestions or ideas would be very much appreciated!
