Blackmagic Camera App ProRes 4444 recording

Overall this app looks really awesome, but I am curious about it's ProRes recording.

According to most sources, and a test I did with the normal camera app, my iPhone 13 Pro's highest level of ProRes recording should be only 422 HQ. However, the BMCApp* give me the option for ProRes 4444, so would choosing that option actually capture more camera data, or would it just put 422 HQ footage in a 4444 container?

I'm not sure if it's necessarily a bad thing if it does the latter, I'm assuming it just means it's a bit more of a frivolous option.

*I vote this should be the nickname for the app, I saw someone call it the BMCAMAP earlier in another thread and I physically flinched at how long that acronym is

Update: As of the 1.1 it's been removed on most devices, so I guess it wasn't beneficial after all.

Would be nice to know when an update actually removes a former feature. “Here’s looking at you” BMD.

To be fair, saying either "we are removing a feature" or "this feature wasn't useful" isn't a very good look on them, let alone saying both, so I'm fine with them doing it quietly in this case.

If it were Arri doing that to an Alexa, I’d complain.
But 4444 from a smartphone? C‘mon, it was overkill anyway, 422 HQ is plenty for that camera. I doubt anybody could spot the difference.
