BMPC4K at 1080p Prores

PostFri Feb 14, 2014 6:04 pm

I know everyone is excited for the 4K capability of the Production Camera, but I am wondering if any of the users have tried shooting at 1080p yet. I'd like to see the results if possible. For quite a while I have been considering obtaining a BMCC, but the global shutter on the 4K model has made me reconsider. I love the way it looks, it's much easier to lens, and although there is less dynamic range on the production camera, the image is still incredible. It absolutely blows away everything available at that price range.

My concern right now is the amount of data that the 4K camera will consume, and I am not sure I will be equipped to handle it. However, I would be perfectly fine shooting in 1080p prores until I had a project that truly merited 4K or Cinema DNG. Anybody shot at the lower resolution yet?

All of the BMPC-4K footage in this music video recently shot by CaptainHook is 1080p ProRes HQ:

The 2nd link shows exactly which scenes were shot using the BMPC-4K, BMCC, or BMPCC.
