Has anyone had any experience shooting with the new Samsung T9 SSD w/ a BMCC? I have the first 6K camera so any insight would be great!

Okay, this is for the 4K BMCC, not 6K...

Sorry, you are right. I could have sworn that it read 6k...

I personally recommend a USB-C enclosure and a Crucial MX500. This combination will run you about $60 dollars.

ORICO USB3.0 to SATA III 2.5"... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M08LCXW?re ... b_ap_share

Type C to Micro B Cord, 1 Pack... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077B9FMVL?re ... b_ap_share

Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD, up to 560MB/s - CT1000MX500SSD1 https://a.co/d/eC6I5wc

All good! I read over that page a couple times just to double check

I'm all for saving a buck but the Crucial MX500 has a write speed of 510 MB/s while the Samsung T9 has a write speed of up to 2,000MB/s. For shooting 6K RAW, I feel like the Samsung would be a more applicable choice.

I'd disadvise Orico. They have a 'sell and forget' attitude in my experience.
Better results here with Acasis.

Both drives would be bottlenecked by the USB port though, which is 5Gbps for the BMPCC4K/6K and BMCC6K. I’d still go with the T9 because it is recommended but it is absolutely overkill.

Depending upon the USB connection on your computer, faster SSD drives are welcome when copying off very large media files. Since I record for hours at high datarates, typically Q0 or Q1, retrieval of the media can take significant time.

In that case I can highly recommend the Acasis enclosure with a fast NVMe drive.
It's adaptive in the way that it behaves as USB-C on a camera and as Thunderbolt if your machine has Thunderbolt (and is connected by the right cable).
I get about 2,700 MB/s read and write with it on the computer.

Thanks, Uli. The Mac Pro 2019 uses Thunderbolt 3. The Apple Pro Display XDR connects to one of the TB3 ports on the Mac and the display has 3 additional USB-C ports.

Understood. So there's a limitation anyway.

BM posted compatible devices for the new cinema camera. But for some reason the flow rate on internal cards is higher than on external drives. 3:1 RAW vs 5:1 RAW. It’s strange, because the speed of external drives is higher.

I have personally used this combination with 6k since 2020 with no issues. Those drives are limited to USB 3.0. You need a drive with a constant write speed.

If you just need a fast drive the Crucial X10 is faster than a Samsung T9.
