Any news on a Micro Cinema refresh/update?

PostFri Jan 12, 2024 10:28 pm

The Micro Studio camera just had a recent update, but I was wondering if people think there is also going to be a refresh on the Micro Cinema?

I would love to have a small, light camera with internal storage - I would buy that in a second.

I'm sitting here waiting for a new Micro Cinema, and have asked BM (but they won't give me any answer, even if it's vague). If it's never coming, I'll buy a different camera from another company, but if there might be one soon, I will definitely wait.

I am aware of the Micro Studio G2, and part of me is thinking that it's replacing both the Studio and Cinema Micros and that the Cinema will never happen, but BM is not clear. It would be nice to know if I should wait or move on.

I've heard that a possible reason that it might never come out is the patent issue with raw compression recording. If that is true, then obviously there is an answer to this question.

Any thoughts, opinions, rumors, anything?

All I'd love for them to add to the Micro Studio is a firmware update with 4K DCI... that I'm sure they CAN do. As for a 'CINEMA' version... kinda looking doubtful but if they did... add Bluetooth so we can control it with Portkeys monitors, a better USB-C port so we can use faster drives. Maybe even 2 USB-C ports if heat is going to be an issue for internal recording.
