Blackmagic Camera App recording via WiFi6 to NAS Share

I got curious and decided to test recording to NAS via WiFi6

My What-IF setup:

Synology RT6600ax Router (WiFi 6 from iPhone, Gigabit to NAS and WAN, 2.5 GBit switch)
Synology DS620slim (20TB Raid, 8GB RAM - currently 3.4TB free)
iPhone 15 Pro (mounted on tripod for test)

Note:

Standard setup with two iPhones, one iPad Pro, one MacBook M1 Pro and no restrictions in network use (TimeMachine, mail, YouTube, Web access etc unrestricted use and casual traffic as usual).

Recording to:

BlackMagic Camera:
ProRES 422LT UHD 2020 HLG 25fps
/NAS.local/Media/BMC (selected in Files App)

This enables the following setup:

1. Apple MagSafe power (USB-C on mains or powerbank)
2. Shure MV88+ M-S Microphone connected via USB-C
3. Recording to NAS via WiFi6 Router 5GHz connection

Comment:

Enables access to “virtually endless” recording space in a more controlled environment.

Results and conclusion

You be the judge of the following:

Internal recording (12.1 GByte):

    FPS set : 25,000 FPS
    FPS min : 24,907 FPS
    FPS max : 25,115 FPS

WiFi recording (64.0 GByte):

    Duration: : 27min 16s
    FPS set : 25,000 FPS
    FPS min : 24,948 FPS
    FPS max : 25,042 FPS

I find it highly interesting, that FPS deviation during a recording to external NAS Share via WiFi6 with standard, unrestricted network use is LOWER - roughly half - than handheld internal recording of less than one fifth the size. Visually, there is nothing indicating the WiFi/NAS recording approach.

Interesting approach, would be great for concert or theater.

Regarding deviation, I get similar values when recording to SSD:

Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.
