Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 Zoom / Focus from ATEM

PostSat Mar 09, 2024 3:42 am

I just received my new cam. I've mounted it in a location that is not easily reachable for using its manual menu system. I "assumed" the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO I have would be able to change zoom and focus settings from the ATEM. However I am not finding anything. Perhaps its a lens issue. I am using an M. ZUIKO ED 12-40mm F2.8 PRO II lens. The ATEM sees the camera and many adjustments of the camera do work from it. However when I drag the zoom wheel it just springs back to center.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to the most user friendly way to control zoom, focus of my Micro 4K G2 be it from the ATEM or other method? I'll buy another lens if that's the more seamless method.

What sayeth the group?

For the "remote zoom" feature I believe you would need a PZ (power zoom) lenses, which have a "zoom motor" to move the required elements. I do not believe your lens has this feature.
Another option would be to have a remote follow focus system, which basically is an external motor controlled remotely, that will physically turn the required ring on the lens, but that is not controlled from the ATEM.

I don't think that lens has a servo zoom, it's manual only.

Zoom is a non starter but focus should be available. Most lenses need to be set to auto (focus and iris) to allow remote control.

Good Luck

So it seems to begin with yes, I need a power zoom on the lens itself so this one will be going back and have ordered the PZ recommended by Blackmagic

There are only 4 lenses that BMD lists as compatible with the zoom controller and the Studio Camera 4K Pro:
Olympus 12-50mm f/3.5-6.3 ED M.Zuiko EZ (not available new)
Olympus 14-42mm M.Zuiko f/3.5-5.6 Digital ED EZ Lens
Panasonic Lumix G X Vario PZ 45-175mm f/4.0-5.6 Zoom OIS Lens
Panasonic Lumix G X Vario PZ 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 Power O.I.S. Lens
