There's a new maker of shock mounts and wind protection called Radius Windshields. The principal owner and designer is Simon Davies, whose family owned Rycote until he and his wife sold it in 2018.

Redding Audio is the US/Canada distributor. Currently, Radius products are sold from its website and by professional sound houses such as Gotham Sound and Trew Audio. Not available at, for example, B&H.

There's a Facebook Group (Radius Windshiels) and a website at https://radiuswindshields.com.

Yesterday, Gotham Sound posted an in-depth interview with Davies:

Thanks for the tip. I’ve relied on Trew Audio in the past and have a purchase in mind.

I plan to purchase two shock mounts this coming week that will cost US$235 each. On his Facebook Group this morning, Simon Davies told me that his RAD-2 mount would be a good fit. If so, I'd save over $200. My new plan is to drop by Gotham and have a look at both options :)

Looks like Radius also has a YouTube channel, quite active so far:

My Sennheiser 416MKH is only supported by elastics that do get tired over the years. I have a spare set of elastics but when they get tired, I need a better solution. I also could use better windscreens for all my mics. Mine are just foam.

Watson Wu, who I gather is a beta tester, posted this photo to the Radius Facebook Group a few days ago. I think it's windshields for release this summer.

Sounds similar to Wodden Camera, where the owner and his wife sold it to the Moloch aka Videndum aka formerly known as Vitec Group and now started a new business in the same branch again.

In fact, they sold Rycote to Vivendum and there’s a working relationship between Radius and Mid49. This is discussed during the interview linked in post #1.

I guess the non-compete agreement has expired :)

I'll have a chance to compare Cinela and Radius suspensions later this week. I have to purchase a couple.
