BMCC 4k windows support?

PostWed Mar 05, 2014 2:50 pm

Dear all,
me and my friend are buying BMCC 4K camera. Everywhere we can hear only prores 422, when speaking about BMCC 4k. My friend uses MAC but i am on the PC (windows platform). Therefore i don't exactly know how BMCC 4k is compatible with PC, with what codec i can edit on? Will i be able to edit only cinema DNG files or also prores 422?
What recording formats and codecs BM provided for us windows users?
Thank you for your answer. :)

Prores works on the PC, although it seems to need a lot of CPU power to decode a single stream of 4K for use in editing software

That is why you get a free version of the Resolve with the BM4K. It run on both PC and Mac.

If working on 4K I heard you need a graphics card of 4Gb or more for reasonable performance though.

The 4K Prores files can be open in Adobe CC

You can play and edit ProRes on a WinPC. You can't encode it natively tho. So you can edit in Premier and then export in another codec.

You will need to install QuickTime.

You can also use Resolve to export your graded footage.
